THE SOCIAL-DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF UZBEKISTAN "ADOLAT" ("JUSTICE"), (SDP).

Founded in Tashkent in February 1995. The party has its own Program and Charter. Has been registered with Uzbek Justice Ministry in 1995.

The main goal of the party is to form a just civil society that meets common interests of all nations and peoples living in Uzbekistan , based on political, economic, and social democratic principles, which now govern the public relations. The party follows the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, its Charter, and other laws. Also, its work is based on the principles of self-government, openness, legality, voluntarism, and equality of party members.

Its supreme body is a congress, and the leadership of the party -general convention, plenary session, council, and conference. During elections, the party proposes its members as candidates for Oliy Majlis, local self-government institutions, and participates in the state administration at all of its levels. According to resolution by Oliy Majlis, 47 party members make up a deputy group in the parliament. The resolutions taken in the meetings, plenary sessions, and party congresses form the guidelines for its work. On some issues not standing against Constitution and its laws, the group may cooperate with other party groups, and jointly arrive at decisions.

The party's publication is a social and political weekly, namely "Adolat" ('Justice').

THE NATIONAL-DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF UZBEKISTAN "FIDOKORLAR" ("THE SELFLESS").

Founded in May 2000 following a merger with "Vatan taraqqioti" (The prosperity of the homeland').

Its members include scientists, business people, farmers, and all of those regardless of their nationalities, sex, and religion.

The party's main goal is to serve for the sake of prosperity of homeland, furthering the reforms aimed at democratization of society, and creating a legal state.

It has its own Charter and Program. Also, the party publishes its weekly, entitled "Vatan" ('Homeland').

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF NATIONAL REVIVAL (DPNR).

Founded in June 1995 in Tashkent. It has its Charter and Program. Registered with Uzbek Justice Ministry.

The party's objective is to build a legal state and unite people on behalf of the sacred cause of placing Uzbekistan in line with leading countries of the world.

Furthermore, the party contributes to the general cause of extending the sovereignty of the country by raising national identity among public, nourishing the sense of loyalty and love for the homeland.

The supreme body is a congress, which is convened once in five years, where delegates elect Presidium and Chairman of the Central Council, deputy chairmen, and Central audit commission. The Central Council is an active leadership body of the party.

The party publishes its weekly, namely "Milliy Tiklanish" ("The National Revival").

THE "XALQ BIRLIGI" MOVEMENT OF UZBEKISTAN (PEOPLE'S UNITY).

Founded in 1995 in Tashkent. Registered with Uzbek Justice Ministry.

Its prior goal is to further the unity of multinational people residing in Uzbekistan based on full realization of citizens' rights and guarantees as secured in the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as nourish the sense of civic duty and patriotism.

Movement has its scheme of operations of how to arrive in national unity and accord, build a democracy and civil culture, as well as nourish patriotism. Also, it includes the task of upbringing younger generations through colossal experience gained so far in terms of philosophical and ethic values of the Orient as well as developed nations of the West. The Movement is active in preventing situations that could lead to conflicts between people of various nationalities.

Currently, it successfully cooperates with number of institutions involved in public affairs in the country. These are the International Cultural Center, Republican center "Marifat va Manaviyat" ('enlightenment and spirituality'), and others. Adding to that, movement conducts public diplomacy vis-a-vis ensuring peace and security in the region and CIS countries based on principles of the UN, Movement of non-alignment, OSCE, and other.

The bodies on the levels of district, town, province and Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as Central Council make up its organizational structure. The supreme body is a congress, which is convened once in four years. The leadership bodies are the Central Council, Audit Commission, and Presidium of Central Council. The Chairman and co-chairs are elected during convention of the congress. It has its Charter and Program.

The Movement publishes its weeklies "Birlik" and "Edinstvo" (both stand for 'unity').

LIBERAL-DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF UZBEKISTAN (UZLIDEP)

Within the framework of its program, the party aims to actively participate in forming a just society in Uzbekistan , strengthen its economic and political sovereignty, ensure public accord, peace and stability between peoples, protect equal constitutional rights, freedoms and interests of citizens regardless of their social status, origin, nationality, views, and religion.

The target goal of the party is to directly participate in strengthening and extending the sovereignty of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

RESULTS OF LAST ELECTIONS.

The lower chamber of the parliament of Uzbekistan , consisting of 120 deputies, was formed through the two rounds of election - on 26 December, when 62 deputies were elected, and on 9 January, when the remaining 58 deputies were elected.
