Report from the celebrations dedicated to Navruz held in the National Park of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

Attired in green, long-awaited and favorite holiday of Uzbek people Navruz is marching through the cities, villages and giving people light and warmth.

22 March. National Park of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi in a festive dress.

The members of parliament and government, figures of science, culture, arts and sports, front-rank workers, business owners, veterans, representatives of foreign embassies and international organizations accredited in our country gathered here.

12.00. The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov enters.

The participants of the festive celebrations welcomed the head of the state with applause.

The theme song, heralding about the beginning of the festive celebrations sounds.

The President Islam Karimov delivered a greeting speech where wholeheartedly congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on the holiday.

Sweet melody sounds over the majestic square. It reminds of the beauty of nature awakening and penetrates deep into the hearts of people.

…The breath of spring is felt everywhere around the square. Colorful banners and balloons decorating the square raise a joyous mood as the first green.

In Uzbekistan, 2012 year declared as the Year of Family at the initiative of President Islam Karimov.

Of course, such measures are aimed primarily at birth and upbringing of a healthy generation, as well as formation of healthy families.

…“Homeland is our big family and let it be strong!” these words express a strong belief in our future. The prosperity of the country and its strength depends on the health of our children, their physical and spiritual development. And sport is particularly important in it.

In accordance with the program, on the eve of the International Women’s Day, 8 March, the gifts of the President – sportswear were presented to thousands of girls in all regions of the country.

Navruz is not only a manifestation of kindness and charity, bounteousness and generosity, but also a symbol of thanksgiving, and faithfulness to the centuries-old traditions.

…All the versatility of our beautiful, unique holiday and a history spanning millennia were shown in the performances of folklore-ethnographic ensembles, colorful dances and folk games. Its life-affirming force unites people and brings the hearts together.

…Celebrations continue: singers and folk artists, wits, rope-walkers and others demonstrate their mastery. Sayils (festivities), ulak-kupkari, racing competitions, kurash, weightlifting and shootings are held on the broad expanse of our country under the blue sky. Unique are the aromas of boiling sumalak in large pots, halim and other spring dishes.

…After snowy and cold winter, farmers go to the fields, enjoying long-expected warm sunshine and plant the seeds with good hopes for a rich harvest…

The triumph ends with fireworks, lights which shimmer in the sky like a rainbow…

The celebrations of Navruz and traditional sayils are continuing in the cities and villages of the country.
