Production of microwave ovens launched in Uzbekistan.

Neo Sun Light Uzbek-British joint venture in partnership with South Korea's Samsung Electronics have launched Samsung microwave production in Tashkent.

The new production line’s designed capacity is 100,000 microwave ovens a year. This number will be gradually increased to 200,000, and minimum 50% of products will be exported. According to Bektemir Murodov, deputy director of the joint venture, Uzbekistan has become the first Central Asia’s country to manufacture microwave ovens under the brand Samsung. “The company will produce two models of microwave ovens: MW712BR and GW712BR (grill included). Occupying less space thanks to compact size the microwaves provide up to 10% more capacity (20 liters) as compared with other ovens of this type. Both models are given three-year warranty,” he told. The plant operates semi-automated lines for plastic parts molding and assembly lines. Due to the localization of some components the cost of microwave ovens will be lower than that of the similar models imported from abroad. The level of localization will gradually increase.

As Kim Tae Han, head of Samsung Electronics Office for Uzbekistan noted in his speech, jointly with AKFA Group, a Neo Sun Light company, they are currently working on two new projects on establishing the manufacture of air conditioners and refrigerators under Samsung brand in Uzbekistan. He also mentioned the launch of production of three models of vacuum cleaners Samsung with the production capacity of 100,000 units a year in Nukus this September in cooperation with the White Machine Technology JV, the first such factory across the CIS.
