Solemn occasion devoted to the International Women’s Day was held at Turkistan Palace on 7 March.

On the same day, the leaders and activists of women’s organizations of the country, representatives of all spheres, including economics, law, science, education, culture and art laid flowers to the monuments of Independence and Humanism, and Happy Mother.

The members of women’s organizations, venerable mothers and other women working fruitfully in various areas were invited to it.

The solemn occasion was opened by the acting governor of Tashkent R.Usmonov.

The State advisor to the President Kh.Sultonov read the congratulatory greeting of the head of the state Islam Karimov to the women of Uzbekistan.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of the Senate I.Sobirov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis D.Tashmuhamedova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, chairman of the country’s Women’s Committee E.Basithanova and others also took part in it.

At the event, 14 young women were awarded with Zulfiya State Prize for special achievements in the field of literature, art, science, education and culture in accordance with the resolution of President Islam Karimov.

An exhibition devoted to the works of women in the field of art and national crafts was organized by the Women’s Committee, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and Hunarmand craftsmen association in the lobby of the palace.

The event ended with a festive concert of art masters and young performers.
