The bright gala-concert has wrapped up the 80th theater season of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Opera and Ballet. The leading opera and ballet performers of the country have another time demonstrated their high professionalism. The audience highly evaluated the refinement and grace, artistic skills and techniques of the actors expressing it by storms of ovations.

Another page of the theater is turned up. It has worked off its jubilee season. The staff of the theater thoroughly prepared for that season, they wanted it to be special, and people who love the theater could keep this season in their minds forever. And they did it. After all, it is no wonder, because today, it becomes habitual to see soloists of the theater at the stages of prestigious theaters of the world. There is a thing the Bolshoi could proud of. Not a single theater can boast such a rich and diverse repertoire and the troupe, 70 percent of which are young actors.

“We have lots of talents and proud of their successes,” noted the director of the Bolshoi Theater Bahtiyor Yoqubov. “Many different projects have been successfully implemented at the theater timed to the Year of Comprehensively Advanced Generation. The theater regularly presents the audience various evenings. They are actively participated by young generation of opera and ballet performers. Moreover, we conducted a series of opera and ballet plays in which many of our young actors and dancers were engaged as well. In general, most part of the events being held in the theater is dedicated to the youth, because basically they work here.”

The 80th season of the theater was quite eventful, bright and interesting. Each of performances caught the spectators’ fancy. The most breathtaking events in the life of the theater were two premieres: opera Pearl Fishers by G. Bizet and ballet Corsair by A. Adan. According to the audience’s response, the premieres had a great success. Especially, they were liked by young artists who were involved in there.

Solo concerts of such renowned Uzbek masters of the opera art as the Honored Artist of Uzbekistan R.Qurbonov, Honored Artist Normo’min Sultonov, and laureates of international and republican contests R. Usmonov and S. Alimov and others, as well as the jubilee evening of the principal choreographer of the theater, the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Yusupov enjoyed huge success as well.

At spring of this year the Bolshoi initiated another creative project – International Week of Italian Opera with participation of gurus of bel canto from Italy, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. The project scored a great success at the result of which the theater was visited by representatives of the association “South of Italy UNESCO” at the very first days of summer.

“We signed the memorandum with the “South of Italy UNESCO”. It confirms our serious intentions to cooperate,” told Bahtiyor Yoqubov. “It means that we are to have joint plays, master classes, exchange of soloists, familiarization with leading theaters of Italy. We had talks with Professor Carke, a tutor at the Music Academy Santa Cecilia. It is one of the popular educational institutions of the world that educates distinguished soloists.”

Another more achievement of the theater has become the triumph of young opera soloists in various international contests. A. Mukhammajonov was awarded the second prize at Ivanov International contest of vocalists in Tver, Russia. D. Piyozov acquired the Grand Prix at the international contest Romansiada in Moscow, Russia, as well as soloist of the orchestra, the harpist Y. Lyashko, the prize winner of the international contest of musicians Symphoniya in Volgograd, Russia.

Currently, three soloists of the Navoi Theater Samandar Alimov, Rahim Mirzakamolov and Iskander Idrisov are taking part in the Russian Shalyapin international contest. The Ministry for Culture and Sports Affairs of Uzbekistan organized their trip to Russia.

Telling about the future prospects for the 81st season Bahtiyor Yoqubov said that the theater are getting prepared for the tours to India and China. The new season is promised to be eventful as well. New premiers are planned, Verdi’s Troubadour is among them.
