Ahead of Navruz public holiday, UzA reporter has interviewed Khalaf Bu Dhhair, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to Uzbekistan.

“The celebration of Navruz in Uzbekistan is a splendid tradition,” the ambassador said.

“In these days, people greet Navruz, a symbol of the wind blows of the spring, awakening and renewal of nature. I am quite pleased to celebrate Navruz for the second consecutive year with your people here in this country.

“World-renowned traditions and customs of the Uzbek people have been preserved carefully for centuries as national values. It needs to be noted that great efforts are being undertaken in this land toward reviving and bolstering national cultural values.

“Our two countries have much in common. The two fraternal peoples share a numerous traits as kindness and compassion, generosity, hospitality, pride in our history and the present day.

“Kuwait is located in an intermediary zone between tropics and mid-latitudes where summer reigns all year round; hence we do not celebrate these holidays in spring as you do in this country.

“With the coming of spring, Uzbekistan turns more beautiful and colorful, leaving unforgettable impression on everyone. Every year on the eve of Navruz, the people embark on extensive works on landscaping and greening the urban and rural areas; the traditional hashar is a classic example of that. These noble traditions serve, among other things, to unite people, enhance the atmosphere of peace and harmony in a society.

“During my stay in Uzbekistan, I have come to be convinced of the effectiveness of these reforms and of the creative power of this country in various spheres.

“Under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, a special attention is being paid to further accelerate the socio-economic reforms, secure human rights and interests, the welfare of people. Owing to Uzbekistan’s practical efforts toward consolidating peace and stability in the region, its strides in boosting international cooperation have facilitated growth in the country’s standing in the international arena.

“The might of a nation, its economic and non-material potential, its credibility in the international community is contingent on its intellectual resources. Much is done in Uzbekistan to foster a comprehensively advanced younger generation wielding profound knowledge and proficiency. Educating an intellectually forward-looking youth is elevated to the rank of state policy in this country inviting extensive acknowledgement around the world. The attendance of numerous specialists and experts from dozens of countries across the globe of the recent international conference “Fostering a Well Educated and Intellectually Advanced Generation – Critical Prerequisite for Sustainable Development and Modernization of Country” in Tashkent on February 16-17, 2012, is a testimony to that tremendous significance being attached to this sphere.

“Taking this opportunity, I would like to cordially congratulate the people of Uzbekistan on the upcoming Navruz holiday. I wish you peace and clear skies.”
