THE NUMBER OF VISA-FREE COUNTRIES INCREASES BY 45

On January 5, 2019 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the Decree “On additional measures for accelerated development of tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.According to the document, from February 1, 2019 additional visa-free regime will be established for 45 countries for 30 days from the date of entry into the territory of Uzbekistan.These countries include the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Australia, Austria, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Vatican, Luxembourg, Hungary, Brunei Darussalam, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Canada, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, New Zealand, Portugal, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta, Poland, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Chile, Romania, Slovakia, Brazil, Finland, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Estonia.

Nationals of France, Israel, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Turkey were granted visa free access in 2018. Germany’s citizens will have visa free access from 15 January, 2019.

Overall the number of countries whose citizens are allowed visa-free entry to Uzbekistan has reached 64.

The existing e-visa scheme will be extended to cover the nationals of 76 countries, and will allow for double and multiple entries.

New visa categories will be introduced for foreign citizens born in Uzbekistan or with close ties with Uzbekistan, pilgrims, students, academics, and for medical tourism.

According to the decree citizens of 109 countries are granted the right to obtain a residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan on condition that they acquire a real estate in Tashkent region and Tashkent city (no less than $400,000), Samarkand, Bukhara, Namangan, Andijan, Fergana and Khorezm regions ($200,000), the Republic of Karakalpakstan and other regions ($100,000).
