As UNWTO informed, the information about the forthcoming UNWTO meeting in Samarqand was published in over 70 foreign tourism electronic and printed media almost in all regions of the world. This attracted participants from many countries.

Foreign mass media assigns a big part to the goals of the meeting. According to the Spanish Expreso.info, “the event aims at fostering the member-states’ synergies for expansion of cooperation and creation of the ground for travel facilitation to ensure a seamless Silk Road travel experience.”

Many editions like Еturbonews.com and Tourism-insider.com, cite the opinion by the UNWTO Executive Director Zoltan Somogy on significant growth of the tourism potential in the Great Silk Road region and the role of UNWTO in fostering this initiative through the development of the Silk Road Action Plan for the nearest future.

“We anticipate in Samarqand a big number of participants from the region to uphold our key and priority goals for the coming year that would reflect interests of all stakeholders of the Silk Road travel process,” Singaporean Travel Daily Asia cites Zoltan Somogy’s comment.

The English Оpen Central Asia and Russian Rata.news mention the role of the UNWTO Office for Silk Road Tourism Development operating in Samarqand since 2004, as one of the driving forces promoting the cooperation between the countries involved into the ancient trade main.

The Canadian Gaming Industry Wire and Greek Travelling News note the meeting will unite all stakeholders interested in development of the Silk Road potential in terms of sustainable development for the benefit of local communities. It will also help to tackle the action plan that would outline the cooperation trends between private and governmental sectors.

“The Great Silk Road was a major route where peoples exchanged cultural traditions, trades, ideas and technologies,” says the Iranian Mojnews.com.
