International competition of akyns (folk singers) titled Aytishuv – 2011 was held at Istiqlol Palace in Tashkent. The event was devoted to the 20th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. The representatives of various ministries, public organizations, national culture centers, foreign embassies and others attended the ceremony. The director of state international culture center Nasriddin Mukammadiev, the head of Kazakh national culture center Marat Ukuboev, ambassador of Kazakhstan Boribay Djeksembin and others noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were developing consistently in economic, political and scientific areas. Folk singers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia demonstrated their skills at the contest. “The holding of this international festival of arts in such a beautiful and hospitable city, such as Tashkent, where Navoi and Abay streets intersect, is a practical manifestation of the good aspirations of Uzbekistan to the progressive development of national traditions, strengthening the bonds of friendship,” said the People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Asilhon Kolibekova. “Attention paid in Uzbekistan to the development of such a unique form of folklore, as aytishuv, is an important factor in its continued preservation for future generations.”
The art of aytishuv, one of the finest examples of folk art, requires the executive rich vocabulary, resourcefulness, high performing and musical mastery. Creative contest of basically two akins gives viewers an unforgettable experience.
“I am happy to participate in this international competition of akyns,” said Kazakh akyn Turegali Alihonov. “Aytishuv was held at the highest level, in high spirits. All this is a practical manifestation of the high care and attention given to development of arts, culture and traditions of representatives of all nationalities living in Uzbekistan.” “It’s my first visit to Uzbekistan,” said Oral Kometia from Mongolia. “I performed with Nurhon Tuymekulova from Uzbekistan. I want to note her vocal abilities, skills and ability to improvise. There is no doubt that my impressions of the noble city of Tashkent will be the most vivid memories of my life.”“I have participated in many international competitions of akyns,” said Kazakh akyn Karima Urolova. “In Tashkent, I was excited with a warm welcome and tumultuous applause in the hall for more than four thousand spectators. All of this suggests that your people deeply feel the art.” As a result of competition Kazakh akyn Aynur Tursunbaeva was awarded the main prize, a car Spark (photo). The first place went to Uzbek akyn Kulmakhan Duisenova and Karima Urolova of Kazakhstan. All winners were presented with certificates and prizes. UzA
