IS DAY OF ADOPTION OF STATE ANTHEM OF UZBEKISTAN

10 December is the day of adoption of the State Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

On this day in 1992, President Islam Karimov signed the law on the State Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Prior to that, a special council had considered a number of variants of the anthem.

According to the law, the State Anthem is a symbol of the state sovereignty of the country. Deep respect for the anthem is a patriotic duty of every citizen of the Uzbekistan.

The amendments to the law, which entered in force on 24 December 2010, state that the citizens of Uzbekistan, as well as other persons present in Uzbekistan are obliged to honor the State Anthem.

The national anthem is played during official visits of the head of the state to foreign countries and the welcoming ceremonies of the foreign heads of state in Uzbekistan, on national holidays, large international forums, sports events and in honor of Uzbek athletes who win at international competitions.

Created on the verse of the national poet of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and music of the national artist of Uzbekistan, famous composer Mutal Burkhanov, the anthem embodies the age-old dreams and aspirations of the people, their faith and bright hope for the future.

Each word of the anthem has its deep meaning and significance. For example, the first word, “sunny”, symbolizes the unique nature of the Uzbek land and the chosen path of light, “free” – national independence and development of the country, “justice” – love of truth and justice by the people.

The main song of the Uzbek people – the anthem – glorifies the high potential and power of the country, it calls for strengthening the state’s independence, protecting peaceful and prosperous life, and expansion of the country’s success.
