10/06/11 - Silk and spices festival held in Bukhara

The international festival “Silk and Spices” was held in the city of Bukhara, which is famous with its historical monuments, great thinkers and traditions of craftsmanship.

Representatives of all regions of Uzbekistan, as well as foreign countries participated in the event, organized by the regional administration, Uzbektourism company and various NGOs.

The festival visitors could get acquainted with natural silk fabrics and carpets, jewelry, ceramics, metal, wood items, samples of miniature art. Demonstrations of folk ensembles and rope walkers gave a peculiar spirit to the festival.

The event concluded with an ethnographic costumes show.

“I came to Uzbekistan for the first time,” Barbara Erne from Switzerland said. “This fairy tale city in wonderful. The samples of craftsmanship presented here show how deep the roots of the national traditions are.”
