President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy October 22 met US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who is on working visit in our country.

Uzbekistan and the United States have accumulated a substantial experience of productive dialogue on the wide range of issues to bring about a qualitatively new phase of bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment and humanitarian realms, in the spirit of partnership and mutual understanding.

During the meeting with Hillary Clinton, President Islam Karimov said he shares the US President’s belief that our countries should continue to work together toward an even more robust partnership built on principles of respect and confidence.

In her turn, US Secretary of State expressed sincere gratitude for a warm welcome and cordial hospitality, confirming the willingness of her country to further the mutually advantageous cooperation with Uzbekistan.

The high-ranking official of the American administration underscored our nation’s constructive policy and pivotal significance in providing for security and stability in the region. During the recent telephone conversation, heads of the two states agreed that our countries share an interest in building up interaction also in the context of regional and international affairs. In this vein, Secretary Clinton conveyed the United States gratefulness to President Islam Karimov for Uzbekistan’s considerable assistance in addressing the Afghan crisis and practical support for socio-economic reconstruction in Afghanistan.

The parties exchanged views on issues pertaining to boosting the dialogue between civil societies of the two countries.

An illustration of effective cooperation between the two nations is the dynamically developing mutually gainful interaction in automotive industry. GM Powertrain Uzbekistan joint venture, in particular, equipped with cutting-edge technologies is practically prepared to launch full time annual production of more than two hundred thousand automobile engines meeting the latest environmental and technical requirements.

A number of major American corporations are currently working to implement extensive investment projects in Uzbekistan, including in high-tech and innovative sectors.
