Instituted at the initiative of the country’s President to discover and support the talented youth, the Nihol show contest has remarkably grown in reputation since its inception in 2000. Over nine thousand young boys and girls probed their abilities at the selecting stages of the contest last year.

The show contest Nihol is organized since 2000. The main objective of the contest is stimulating talented youngsters whose creativity calls for the good, and favors fostering in peers love for Motherland.

Nihol Prize is traditionally awarded on five nominations: variety art, playing in musical instruments, classical song, performance of national legends, and dancing art.

Major works on rendering assistance to talented youth in achieving creative heights are being carried out in all regions of the country. For instance, Navoi region places special emphasis on organizing city, district and regional stages of the Nihol contest, as well as maintaining objective and equal opportunities to all its participants.

“Now preparations are in full swing,” tells the head of Navoi regional department on culture and sports Dilshod Mamaradjabov. “Our people are very talented, and able to appreciate and understand art. There are many families storing musical instruments in their houses and accustoming their children to art. The show contest on Nihol Prize plays rather important role in developing young talents.”

Last year more than 200 young talents participated in selecting stages. And this year, we plan to involve even more youth, especially from most remote areas that are rich in talents.

Festivals and holidays of art accustoming youth to creativity, give the chance to choose out the worthy candidates. With that purpose, festivals of art are organized in Qiziltepa and Nurota districts regularly, and in rural areas – days of culture and sports - once in a month.

Nowadays, over twenty ensembles of song and dance operate in the region within various recreation centers. One of major cultural institutions of the region is the Palace of Culture Farhod in Navoi. Over two thousand young boys and girls attend more than seventy circles functioning in the palace. And it should be noted that there are students among them who became laureates of Nihol Prize, they are Sherzod Davronov and Suhrob Kendjaev.
