XXII Tashkent international tourism fair “Tourism on the Silk Road” concludes in Tashkent

The tourism fair was arranged by the Uzbektourism national company and the Great Silk Road advertising agency with support from the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The event was attended by representatives of more than 100 tourism firms and companies of Uzbekistan, Japan, Chile, France, Russia, Latvia, India, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan and other countries.

There were lots of interesting presentations and mutually advantageous talks in the tourism fair. Its participants familiarized themselves with achievements and novelties in the sphere. Information was provided about reforms being conducted for the development of tourism in Uzbekistan, the system of training personnel for this sphere and programmes for the popularization of ecotourism.

“Uzbekistan’s tourism industry is widely developed. The ancient cities of Tashkent, Samarqand and Bukhara and the Uzbek nation’s unique cultural and spiritual heritage attract tourists to the country,” says Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Thailand’s minister of tourism and sports.

A great deal of work was conducted in the “Travel in Uzbekistan” national pavilion. There the tourism potential of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston and the regions was widely displayed. In special expositions, participants in the event had an opportunity to partake of Uzbek national cuisine, fruits and vegetables and to buy products of national craftsmanship. Participants in the event, especially foreign guests, very much liked presentations of Uzbek national music heritage and the folklore of various regions of Uzbekistan.

As part of the event, an international scientific-practical conference entitled “Ecotourism is a factor in environmental protection and stable development, Uzbekistan’s experience and international practice” was held on issues of the development of internal tourism in the country and on the current state of and prospects for the provision of services for the population in this area.

The best companies and hotels of the country’s tourism sphere were presented, and winners were declared in a number of nominations.
