01/11/11 - Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan expand cultural ties

The scientific-theoretical conference devoted to the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan cultural relations was held in Tashkent.

The event was organized by the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan jointly with the Institute of Architecture and Arts of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan, UzA informs.

The speakers at the forum said the friendly ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the field of culture were actively developing along with trade, economic, political, scientific and educational spheres.

The representatives of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are regularly participating in various art and culture festivals, forums and exhibitions carried out in the two countries.

In particular, the musicians of Azerbaijan are regular and active participants of the International Music Festival Sharq Taronalari held in Samarkand biennially.

The peoples of Uzbekistan and Azeribaijan have a common literary heritage, similar culture and arts. It is hard to find a person in Azerbaijan who hasn’t read the works of Navoi or Babur, and in Uzbekistan those who are not familiar with works of Nizami and Fuzuli.

The Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev in Tashkent serves to further strengthening of the friendly ties between the two brotherly peoples, and for the progressive development of cultural relations.

The conference participants listened to reports on the history, current state and prospects of cultural ties between the two countries, the classic musical traditions of the two nations, cooperation among people of art, mutual cultural and spiritual ties.
