UEFA President in Tashkent
A UEFA delegation, led by its president Michel Platini arrived in our country on 11 OCtober 2012.
During the meeting with the President of the Uzbekistan football federation Mirabror Usmanov, it was noted that under the leadership of President Islam Karimov huge works on developing football in Uzbekistan, construction of modern stadiums, training centres, strengthening their material-technical base and training of professional players have been conducted. The Presidential decree “On additional measures to further strengthen material-technical base develop football in the republic in 2011-2013” dated from 19 January 2011 serves as an important guideline in further improving instrastructure of football, construction of new stadiums and reconstruction of old ones, training of qualified coaches and referees. At present Uzbek football has its worthy place in the continental and world football. Recently Uzbekistan U-16 team won the Asian championship. The main national team, which was one of four strongest teams in Asia last year, is continuing its efforts in the qualification stages for the Brazil-2014 World Championship. Uzbekistan Members of the UEFA delegation got familiar with the reforms in Uzbekistan on developing football, the new Bunyodkor stadium and sports complex, fully reconstructed Pakhtakor stadium, activity of the Uzbekistan football federation. - President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov pays a huge attention to develop football in Uzbekistan, which is an important factor in developing this sphere, - said UEFA President Michel Platini. – I witnessed widescale works in Uzbekistan to improve infrastruture of football, including children’s and youth football, training of talented athletes, creation of favorable conditions for them, all-round support of football clubs. Uzbek referee Ravshan Irmatov is world-famous these days. His increasing authority in the world football is also an achievement of Uzbek football. I enjoyed the game of Uzbekistan national squad in the last year’s Asian Cup. Successful play of youth teams in the Asian championship is a results of great attention, piad by the state to develop children’s sports. Visiting Bunyodkor stadium, Michel Platini noted that this modern sports building fully meets world standards and is no worse than the famous European stadiums. The stadium has all facilities for sportspeople and spectators, with a capacity of 34 thousand people. The complex includes rooms for sportspeople, referees, football managers, conference hall, museum, restaurant and fitness centre. Uzbek Tennis Players' Victory
In Andijan, prestigious competitions among women in a series of competitions of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) completed with the victory of Sabina Sharipova. In singles, which was attended by talented tennis players from nearly 10 countries, Sabina Sharipova beat her compatriot Alina Abdurakhimova, Russian Varvara Kuznetsova, Daria Mironova and second-seeded Israeli woman Karen Shlomon reached the finals. She has won over the representative of South Korea Su Jeong Jang in the decisive party with 6-2, 6-4 and received the top prize. It was the second victory of 17-year-old tennis player in the current season. In March, she has won in the international tournament among juniors in Thailand. In doubles, our compatriot Albina Khabibulina together with Russian Anastasia Vasiliyeva won over the duo of Sabina Sharipova and Catherine Yashin (Russia) with 6-0, 6-2 and reached the finals. |
Jasur Latipov Becomes International Tournament Winner
Boxers of Uzbekistan, preparing for the upcoming XXX Summer Olympic Games to be held on 27 July – 12 August 2012 in London, won prizes at the international boxing tournaments in Germany and Albania. More than a hundred fighters of different weight categories from 21 countries came into the ring at the international tournament Chemistry Cup 2012 held thirty-ninth time in Germany. Defending the honor of Uzbekistan Jasur Latipov won the gold medal in 52 kg weight class. Preparing for the Olympic Games, the athlete began the second round of the competition with a score of 17:14 against Ronnie Beblik, representative of Germany and won over the France boxer Nordin Ubaali with 15:11. In the decisive battle, Jasur won Purevdorj Serdamba of Mongolia with the score 12:8 and rose to the highest step of the podium. Uzbek boxer Orzubek Shoimov, London Olympics tickets owner also won over Sweden Bashir Hassan, Muhammad Amin from Algeria, Mehmed Topchakan of Turkey and was awarded with a silver medal. The best boxers from more than 10 countries took part at the international tournament Vllaznia Memorial in Albania. International Chess Tournament Reached End
The 6th International Chess Tournament Tashkent Open dedicated to the memory of the first grandmaster of Uzbekistan Georgiy Agzamov, has reached its end. The competition was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, Chess Federation of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Culture and Sports at the support of Fund Forum in order to further popularize chess in Uzbekistan. More than hundreds of chess players from Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Israel, Georgia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan competed for the victory. The Tashkent Open tournament, traditionally held since 2007, as one of the premier events of sport in the country makes it possible to spread the potential of the Uzbek chess schools over the world. The year-over-year growth of the prestige of the tournament was emphasized by experts. As the years passed, many grandmasters attended the tournament this year, too. Competition was held in Swiss system, 9 rounds, Maxim Turov of Russia took the first place, Georgian Mikhail Mchedishvili took the second place and the third place went to the grandmaster of Uzbekistan Anton Filippov. “I am once again convinced that all international sports events is organized at a high level in Uzbekistan. I have won the Tashkent Open tournament twice. And, this year’s competition was very interesting and perfectly competitive” said M.Turov. Uzbekistan wins Japan 1:0
National Team of Uzbekistan has played against the team of Japan and finished the third qualifying round of Asia as a leader of the group C 1:0. A special attention under the leadership of President Islam Karimov is paid to the development of football in Uzbekistan. Evidence of this is the victory of the Uzbekistan national team in the third Asian qualifying stage, which opened the way to the fourth, the final qualifying round, which gives the right to participate in the World Cup 2014 to be held in Brazil. Today’s result meant that Uzbekistan secured top position in group C with 16 points, while Japan finished second with 10. In addition, the team of Uzbekistan was the only team which missed the least number of goals in the third qualifying round. In the second match, Tajikistan’s national team and North Korea have drawn 1:1 and won the first point in the group. In the fourth final qualifying round, 10 best teams of the continent will be divided into two groups and compete for vouchers allocated for FIFA Asia to attend the World Cup in 2014. UzA |
Natella, Champion of Uzbekistan
Tashkent’s Natella Nabiyeva won Uzbekistan tennis championship among women. The final stage of the national championship was held in the capital. Tennis players of capital Natella Nabiyeva and Alina Abdurakhimova met in it for the grand prize. Alina Abdurakhimova defeated her opponent with a score of 6:1. In the first set, Alina Abdurakhimova defeated her opponent with 6-1. Natella prevailed with a score of 6-2, 6-3 and won the honorary title of champion of Uzbekistan. Alina Abdurakhimova won the silver medal. Guzal Yusupova of Kashkadarya and Maftuna Yunusova from Bukhara competed at the meeting for the bronze medal of the championship. Hand-to-hand Combat Championship Winners Identified
Uzbekistan championship in hand-to-hand combat, which was attended by about 300 athletes of three age categories was held at the capital’s sports and recreation complex Jar. Bobur Rakhmatov, Ravshan Abdulazizov, Shokhruh Ruziyev, Shamsiddin Yuldashev, Jahongir Mansurov from Tashkent, the representative of Kashkadarya region Bobur Kurbanov became the winners in their weight categories. These winners will defend the honor of Uzbekistan in the World Championship to be held in Belgium and in the open European Championships in Bulgaria, this year.
