Uzbekistan: Effective logistics

The Turkish company Gentes Yapi ve Endustry Tesisleri Ltd Sti plans to build a large logistics complex in Uzbekistan.

The agreements on this were signed during the recent visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey. The new complex will specialize in storing and sending agricultural products. 125 refrigerating tanks and

75 warehouses for bulk products will be erected here, a loading and unloading area will appear, the Turkish side will also supply modern packaging equipment. In addition, attention and comfort will be given to future buyers, it is planned to build a hotel and a cafe.

The parties will start detailed projecting in November, when a large delegation of the Turkish company will arrive in Uzbekistan on a visit. In addition, its representatives intend to organize the supply of their equipment for the cultivation and processing of fruits in our country.

The complex will primarily focus on the supply of fresh and processed agricultural products to the CIS countries, in particular, to Russia.

It should be noted that Russia and Kazakhstan remain the main markets for Uzbek fruits. Today, the Russian Federation accounts for about 60% of total exports. Over the past year, the supply of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products to Russia has doubled. The positive dynamics continues this year, and this despite the climatic conditions. In the long term, the republic intends to increase the annual volume of fruit and vegetable products in Russia to $ 1 billion.

“Made in Uzbekistan”: new opportunities for manufacturers

“Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition-fair of achievements of economic sphere of our country is being held at Uzexpocentre.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of state and public organizations, diplomatic corps accredited in our country, domestic and foreign businessmen.

At the exhibition, domestic manufacturers are presenting products of light industry, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, food, leather-shoe, construction, automotive, chemical industries, consumer goods, electrical engineering, products in the sphere of telecommunications and information technologies, agriculture, and educational services. An opportunity has been created for participants and visitors of the exhibition to get information on innovative projects that are being implemented in the manufacturing industries.

New opportunities for manufacturers

The exhibition is of great interest among representatives of domestic and foreign businessmen, large companies, private enterprises. In particular, the administration of the international port zone in Shanxi province of China intends to strengthen cooperation with Uzbekistan. It is planned to strengthen trade-economic, humanitarian relations within the framework of “One Belt, One Road” project. In addition, responsible employees of “Sauda Samal” company (Kazakhstan), Uzbekistan – Tajikistan Trade House, located in “Sahovat” shopping center (Tajikistan) made proposals on gratuitous allocation of sites for demonstrating products of our entrepreneurs. Interest in partnership with Uzbekistan manufacturers is growing among companies of Afghanistan, France, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and other countries.

The exhibition-fair is also being attended by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and its territorial branches, the banking and financial organizations of our country. They are presenting their services on development of entrepreneurship, allocation of concessional loans for entrepreneurs, expansion of the scope of their activities, increasing in the volume of export of products.

New opportunities for manufacturers

– We have established the production of elevators together with our Italian colleagues. Today we are exporting more than 7 kinds of products to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Recently, we have signed an agreement on delivery of our products to Russia, – says director of the “Lift group” company in Samarkand region Alisher Karimov. – At the fair, we have received proposals on cooperation from domestic and foreign companies.

More than 220 representatives of domestic enterprises are offering more than 10 thousand types of finished products, components and other products at the exhibition. Seminars, demonstrations of products and services are being held, beneficial contracts with foreign partners are being signed within the framework of the fair.

Uzbekistan: Electronic Window for Investment

In Uzbekistan, starting from March 1, 2018, the Single Portal for Free Economic and Small Industrial Zones will work.

This decision is stipulated by the decree of the head of state. The portal will provide access in Uzbek, Russian and other foreign languages to detailed information about the country's economic zones, benefits, investment advantages, infrastructure, geographical location, as well as state-owned objects on their territory, services rendered to investors.

Also, it is planned to publish a constantly updated list of recommended investment projects, to create a special module for direct appeal of potential investors and participants on issues of interest to the zone management, administrative councils and the Republican Council.

The key moment of the created portal will be the opportunity to provide various interactive services to investors, including the reception of applications and other documents. At the same time, potential participants will be able to track the progress and results of consideration of investment applications, regardless of the place and method of investor's communication, in real time.

The President assigned personal responsibility for the implementation of this project to three top officials of the country, the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov, the Minister of Economy Galina Saidova and the Chairman of the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Investments Azim Ahmedhodjaev.

It should be reminded that the recent monitoring of the activities of free economic and small industrial zones revealed a number of serious shortcomings. For example, experts noted that there was a complicated bureaucratized mechanism for coordinating and approving investment projects proposed for the implementation and placement in the zones, which for many months delayed the adoption of decisions on them.

International conference “Central Asia: one past and a common future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity”

On the upcoming international conference on Central Asia

On November 10-11, 2017, international conference on ensuring safety and sustainable development in Central Asia under the auspices of the UN on “Central Asia: one past and a common future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity” will be held in Samarkand.

The forum will become one of important practical steps on implementation of the initiatives forwarded by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, aimed at ensuring safety, socio-economic prosperity, and strengthening of regional cooperation in Central Asia. As it is known, transformation of Central Asia into a zone of stability, steady development and good-neighborliness is defined by the Head of our state as the main priority of foreign policy of Uzbekistan.

Organizers of the conference are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia.

According to the organizing committee, more than 500 people will take part in the international event, including foreign ministers of Central Asian countries, high-level official delegations from the CIS countries, Europe, Asia and America, heads of more than 10 international organizations, including the UN, EU, OSCE, SCO, CIS, EBRD, about 100 authoritative international experts and employees of leading foreign mass media, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the program of the forum, speeches will be delivered by the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca, the UN Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS at the United Nations Development Programme Cihan Sultanoglu, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica, OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, Chairman of the Executive Committee – the CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev, the SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov, heads of other international structures.

Foreign ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Kairat Abdrakhmanov, the Kyrgyz Republic – Erlan Abdyldaev, the Republic of Tajikistan – Sirojiddin Aslov, Turkmenistan – Rashid Meredov, the Republic of Turkey – Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Islamic Republic of Iran – Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan – Salahuddin Rabbani, Senior Director for South and Central Asia at the US National Security Council Lisa Curtis and other officials of foreign countries will also deliver speeches.

It is expected that conduction of Samarkand conference will provide an opportunity for its participants to exchange views on current issues of security and development of the region, to develop proposals on effective ways of their solution. The two-day forum will allow to discuss specific areas of enhancing cooperation between the Central Asian countries in political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, hydropower, environmental, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as the role of international organizations and partner countries in promoting implementation of the regional development projects and enhancing the potential of countries in countering modern challenges and threats.
