OFFICIALLY

The Uzbek government has approved a set of measures until 2022 to perk up the drinking water supply system of the Ferghana Valley

Now the provision of centralized water supply to the population of the valley has reached 71.6% (6.5 million people), including 74.6% in the Andijan region, 65.2% in Namangan and 74.1% in the Ferghana region.

Fresh water is the main source of drinking water supply. However, unfortunately, the sources of groundwater suitable for use are not widespread. At the same time, water quality deterioration to a depth of 100-150 meters is noted on some sources because of intensive development of lands, including in the territory of neighboring countries, which requires the development and implementation of new technological solutions for the rational exploitation of aquifers.

Another problem is the high wear and tear of the process equipment, because of which part of the group and single water intake facilities is in non-operating condition.

These problems are aggravated by the constant growth of the population, the construction of new multi-storey residential areas and urban settlements, the development of industry and agriculture.

In this connection, it became necessary to take effective measures to further improve the drinking water supply system of the population by expanding the use of fresh groundwater resources.

Within the framework of these measures, Uzbek specialists will conduct large-scale hydrogeological work on the increase and revaluation of groundwater resources in the valley. In three years, more than 54 billion soums (currency rates of CB RU from 17.10.2017, 1$= 8058,77 soum) will be allocated for this.

In addition, it is planned to build and reconstruct more than 570 operational and observation wells, sending over 1.3 billion soums for this. As a result, the daily increase in water, according to experts, should be 338.3 thousand cubic meters.

investments

In Uzbekistan, a modern production of mixed textile goods with a total value of $ 92 million will be built by late 2018.

The project was initiated by the “Namangan Sharbati” Joint Venture, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs and “Uzbekyengilsanoat”.

It is planned that the enterprise will annually produce 10 thousand tons of polyester fiber, 10 thousand tons of polyester yarns, 20 million running meters of mixed fabrics, 7 thousand tons of mixed fabric and 6 million units of ready mixed textile products.

Financing is carried out at the expense of own funds of “Namangan Sharbati” in the amount of $ 30 million, as well as a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for $ 62 million.

The head of state provided a number of privileges and preferences to the “Namangan Sharbati” JV within the framework of the implemented project. So, for example, the enterprise was released until January 1, 2022 from payment of corporate income tax, value added tax, property tax of legal entities and compulsory contributions to the Republican Road Fund.

It is also exempted from customs payments for imported equipment, components, raw materials, materials and chemicals used for the production of products on the basis of chemical raw materials that are not produced in the country.

Recall that in Uzbekistan before the end of 2019 plans to implement 132 investment projects in the textile sector, half of which will be financed by foreign investment and loans. Their total cost will be about $ 2.2 billion.

In particular, it is planned to create 112 modern, high-tech productions, expand, modernize and technologically upgrade 20 operating capacities. All this will increase the export potential of the industry to $ 2.5 billion per year, and create more than 25 thousand jobs.
