President held a meeting on effectiveness of activities in agriculture

On March 23, a meeting dedicated to effectiveness of the ongoing activities on accelerated development of agriculture and deepening reforms in this sphere was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister and his deputies, officials of relevant ministries and departments, leadership of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and khokims of the regions.

At the meeting, importance of timely and qualitative implementation of agrotechnical measures for achieving high yields was noted. Good germination is observed on grain fields of farmers, who timely introduced mineral fertilizers and carried out irrigation.

However, wheat growth is lagging behind in several thousand hectares of areas. This situation is observed in particular fields of Tashkent, Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Namangan regions.

The main reason for this is improper management organization of the regions and districts, by employees of irrigation systems on efficient use of water. As a result, a large part of water resources intended for wheat are spent on irrigation of other crops. At the meeting it was noted that khokims and heads of irrigation networks at places should properly organize the activity on timely watering the fields.

INFRASTRUCTURE

In the regions of Uzbekistan, a number of measures are expected to be implemented to create a weight-control system in the near future

In particular, it is planned to organize stationary and mobile weighing control posts on major international routes. Some of them will work in automatic mode, sending data to a single data collection center.

The appearance of posts is due to the fact that unscrupulous carriers often use the absence of a centralized system of weight control and violate the rules, destroying the roads.

Today, about 20 international transport routes and destinations to Russia, the EU countries, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and China pass through the territory of Uzbekistan.

A huge flow of trucks seriously affects the quality of Uzbek roads. Under the influence of hot climate asphalt under the wheels of heavily loaded machines becomes an accordion. Therefore, the country is actively transferring roads from axle load from the current 10 to 13 tons, and also use cement concrete in construction.

Another important point: starting from 1 March 2018, Uzbekistan has allowed free transit of alcohol and tobacco products by motor transport through its territory. These innovations, according to experts, will serve as a serious impetus for the further increase in the volume of transportation.
