Uzbek pupils win 5 gold medals at International Mathematical Olympiad

Singapore hosted the International Mathematics Olympiad (Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge, SIMOC-2016).

The students of our country have presented a truly a real gift to the glorious holiday of the Motherland – the anniversary of independence.

This year's competition "Queen of science" brought together 780 pupils from different parts of the world. Qualifying rounds were organized in groups and the participants passed this stage by solving rebuses and mathematical problems. After the preliminary selection, the most distinguished students participated in the final round, following the results of which the winners were determined according to their age.

It is praiseworthy that among the winners of the SIMOC-2016 there are 5 representatives of Uzbekistan, who won gold medals. Worthy of their greatest ancestors-mathematicians are Abdurahim Aripov, Muhammadamin Rahmonberdiev, Abdulla Gayratullaev, Marina Ten and Vladislav Galperin. In addition, other students were awarded silver and bronze medals and team prizes.

The Minister of communications and information of the Republic of Singapore Chee Hong Tat attended the awarding ceremony of the winners as the guest of honor. In his welcome speech, he highlighted the active participation of young mathematicians of Uzbekistan in the competition and wished them further success in conquering even greater heights.

The Executive Director of the Center for international mathematical competitions Singapore Henry Wong, in turn, also praised the preparation of the Olympic participants from our Republic:

- Good participation of the Uzbek students in this competition and prizes they have won are a great proof of effectiveness of the education system functioning in Uzbekistan. When visiting your country, I have personally seen how great attention is paid to this area. As you can see, the efforts of the Uzbek leadership are bearing fruits. I hope that the representatives of this land will continue to show outstanding results.
