Festive greetings of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to women of the country drew a wide response abroad. In particular, in the course of an interview with news agency "Jahon" in Rome (Italy), the Secretary General of the Italian branch of "European Women's Lobby" Mary Louis Bo ttarelli Tranquillo-Leal commented on certain points of the greetings of our President.

- I familiarized with holiday greetings of President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan concerning women with great attention. I would like to point out the words of warmness and respect permeated from the beginning to the end of this high message!

Let me express my respect and appreciation for very solid legal framework formed in the republic on strengthening the role of women in society. It should be noted that the principle of equality of women enshrined in the Constitution and reflected in the decrees and resolutions of the President and the government is an effective legal mechanism to protect their rights and legitimate interests.

Uzbek leader's words about the importance of women's education made a deep impression on me. Increasing the number of representatives of women in all areas of education contributed to the growth of their representation in economic and political management of the state at all levels: from the “makhalla” (small uzbek village – unique self-control organization of citizens) to the national level, including in the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of Parliament. This once again I was able to see during the trip to the Republic for participating in the International Conference on the theme "The role of women in the formation of civil society, the state and social construction: the experience of Uzbekistan" held in September last year in Samarkand.

Announcement of 2016 in the country as the “Year of a healthy mother and child” and the extent of the planned work within its framework are commendable. In this connection, I believe that in this year the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan and other institutions will continue to work in this area, including through the promotion of innovation, concerning the further improvement of  health care system of women and girl, strengthening the material-technical base of medical institutions, especially medical centers in rural areas.

I would like to emphasize that in addition to the opportunities provided by the Uzbek women in their education and experience in public administration, an effective system of microcredits well-established in the country gives them the opportunity to develop their talent in the business, creating a small and family businesses.

During the celebration of International Women's Day, I would like to express my admiration for all women in Uzbekistan, and congratulate them on this wonderful holiday!
