NEW ACTION PLAN APPROVED

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the next action plan aiming at the improvement of quality of special and professional education. It envisages assistance to the further development and strengthening of cooperation between education institutions along with changing the specialty of some of them. 
The changing labor market’s demand in qualified specialists and economy development forecasts challenged the authorities to resolve on changing the specialty of 20 professional colleges. For example, Termiz Food Industry Professional College will be renamed to Termiz Industry and Transportation Professional College due to the expanded list of specialties.  Previously it was the only institution in Surkhondaryo region that trained specialists for food industry. Now some other colleges of the region provide such training. Meanwhile, the demand in specialists for light industry, transport and other economy sectors is growing. 
Training of secondary medical personnel is assigned a major part this year. Each of 81 medical colleges throughout the country was involved into reformation. 78 medical education institutions were assigned to the higher education institutions to catalyze rendering of practical and methodological assistance to colleges and lyceums as well as arranging practical training for students on the basis of hospitals and advanced training for teachers. Nukus, Baghdod and Hazorasp medical colleges №3 were restructured into academic lyceums. 
The complex of measures targeted at the development of cooperation between professional colleges has become a new step within the activity on raising quality of professional training in colleges. With this purpose basic colleges and their affiliates formed partner’s groups. 14 model professional colleges with developed material and technical base and with qualified teachers and practical training masters located in towns and regional centers were selected as basic ones. Each of them are in charge of two-three colleges,a total of 32 colleges, situating in remote settlements. Now basic colleges will assist their affiliates with raising quality of education and arrangement of theoretical and practical training. In case this experience is effective, it will be distributed among the rest professional colleges.

director, Kirguli Industry and Construction Professional College, Farghona:

Our professional college was established in 1998. It was among the first institutions of this kind in Farghona region. Much has been changed since that time. It is obvious by the example of practical workshops with modern sewing, metalworker’s and turning facilities and covered yard for practicing bricklaying, plastering, decoration works, mounting of ceiling between floors and roof. Today our educational institution is entering the new development phase as a basic college. We were put in charge of two construction industrial colleges: one is in Qumtepa village, and the other is in the Mindon village. We are currently working on organizational issues of our further cooperation: we are planning the arrangement of practical training for students of those colleges in our practical workshops.

head of secondary special and professional education administration of Navoi region:

Four professional colleges of our region are being restructured this year: one in Navoi city and three in Karmana district locating in immediate proximity to the Navoi Free Industrial Zone. Changes in those education institutions are chiefly connected with the demand in specialists conditioned by the establishment of new plants. The demand in blue-collar workers, public services and food industry specialists is boosting here. Therefore restructured colleges will train these kinds of specialists.

While training specialists we primordially assign a major part to a close cooperation not only with higher education institutions but also with hospitals where our students undergo their practical training. Starting from this year our college is functioning under the country’s biggest medical university: Tashkent Medical Academy. Undoubtedly, the further strengthening of our partnership will favor the enhanced quality of training nurses who play an important role in rendering a qualitative medical aid.
